Super Junior after parties are one of the wildest parties the human eyes have yet to see. Several crazy things happen during these times, some better left forgotten and never revealed in public. Some things done in spirit of fun (or alcohol), while the rest are just plain wild partying, super junior style.
Lee Hyukjae shook his head, drinking another shot glass of coke, of course he wasn’t a drinker, and by the looks of it, he was the only one not drunk in the entire Super Junior crew. He had to tear his eyes away from Kyuhyun and Siwon, who were both clearly drunk and practically eating each other’s faces, frowning slightly, when did that happen? He inwardly chuckled at Ryeowook, who was giving Yesung a weird lap dance. Jongwoon was laughing, his face red from all the alcohol he was consuming. Donghae was already passed out on their table and was snoring slightly. The rest were either still drinking or had already gone to bed.
Deciding he had enough for one night, Hyukjae decided to go back to his room early (conveniently, the bar hey rented was located just down their hotel) and turn in. When he entered the room however, something surprised him.
Or should he say…someone.
Lee Sungmin was in his room (or technically speaking his and Hyukjae’s shared hotel room), but that wasn’t the problem at all. The problem was that the aegyo king was drinking, and it wasn’t even wine that the other loved, no, he was downing whisky and by the smell of it…beer. Sungmin hated beer.
Hyukjae frowned, stopping right in front of Sungmin who giggled at the sight of him, obviously drunk “Hey Hyukkie, Welcome back!” he slurred happily, giggling some more before drinking in another shot glass.
A drunk Sungmin is usually not a problem to him at all. But Sungmin drinking alone, not wine, and like this pretty much means something else. He sighed “What are you doing, Sungmin?” he asked.
“Celebration!” was the aegyo king’s reply, smiling brightly “We won 3 awards! We have to party!” he lifted his arms and waved them in the air, it would’ve looked cute if Hyukjae didn’t already knew something was wrong “Come on, drink with me”
“No” he says “Why are you drinking here? Everyone is downstairs”
Sungmin froze at that and he was quiet for a while. Then he pouted at hyuk “But it’s too noisy! It’s better to drink by myself and not down where there are unpleasant sceneries” he says, almost too happily, knocking back another glass like its water. He giggled again “But now that you’re here, you can drink with me” he cooed at Hyukjae, who evaded him, shaking his head.
“But don’t you usually drink with Kyu—“
“Lalala, I don’t hear anything!” Sungmin suddenly screamed, interrupting Hyukjae who was taken aback, “Sorry Hyukkie, I didn’t hear you. Come on, drink withmeee”
Hyukjae stared, oh, so that was the problem, he should’ve figured that out when he saw what Kyuhyun and Siwon were doing downstairs minutes ago, no wonder Sungmin was trying to drown himself with alcohol, again. “You had another fight with him didn’t you?” he says gently, being Sungmin’s best friend he already knew this was a rather sensitive topic for the man.
Sungmin just laughed, he laughed and he laughed until he was breathless. Until he was crying with the laughter, before he could say something again. “He broke up with me” he whispers suddenly, still smiling “Told me he and Siwon are going out now. I guess I should have seen that comi---”
“HE WHAT?!” Hyukjae shouts, making Sungmin jump and stare at him, but he didn’t mind, he was shaking with anger now “HE DID WHAT?!”
Sungmin stares at him some more before shrugging “He broke up with me, and I said okay”
Hyukjae was officially confused. Kyumin had broken up? Super Junior’s only real couple? And SUNGMIN was okay with it? Something was definitely wrong with this picture. Sungmin? The guy head over heels in love with their maknae? “Are you serious?”
“He doesn’t love me anymore…” Sungmin’s voice trailed off, his voice starting to crack. “H-he said I shouldn’t hinder his happiness so I didn’t” there was another long pause “it still hurts though…too much” he laughed, he was about to take another shot but Hyukjae stopped him, at this rate he was going to have alcohol toxicity in the morning.
“Min stop, you are drinking too much”
“But I want to forget, I can still feel the pain Hyukkie” he didn’t know how to respond, and Sungmin took that moment to drink again. He was giggling and crying at the same time, “weird huh? Today was supposed to be our anniversary too, I mean, how can he break it off today? Sometimes I just hate him so much …then I’ll always love him, I’m so freaking stupid…it’s weird” the blonde could only watch and listen as Sungmin trail off and slowly start to lose his consciousness, but his heart clenched at the last words that came out of the aegyo king’s mouth “Am I that hard to love?”
NO. Eunhyuk wanted to tell him, he was far too freaking easy to love. He should know because truth of the matter was, Hyukjae was in love with Lee Sungmin. He had been for years now, but he knew how much Sungmin loved Kyuhyun so he retained the role of the best friend, but he always loved Sungmin, always. Even Donghae knew. But that was a different story.
When Sungmin was finally asleep Hyukjae carried him over to his bed, couldn’t help it but smile at the way Sungmin frowned when he put him down, almost as if scared to lose him, he always liked the way Sungmin fitted in his arms, it always felt so right. He tucked him under the covers and kissed him on the forehead. “It’ll be alright Min, I promise”
With that Hyukjae went out of their room, ready to give Kyuhyun what he had coming, specifically saying, a piece of his mind and his fist on the maknae’s jaw, but what he saw made him feel murderous, Kyuhyun and Siwon were practically undressing themselves in the hallway leading to their shared room!
“CHO KYUHYUN!” he growled, running towards them he gave a straight punch towards Kyuhyun’s face, sending the younger man sprawling and Siwon looking at them in surprise.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Kyuhyun shouted, holding his cheek, he looked pissed off, but was surprised at the look of utmost loathing in Hyukjae’s face.
“I would tell you the same thing you bastard!” he gritted his teeth “What the hell do you think you’re doing with Siwon?!”\
Kyuhyun looked at him calmly “I broke up with Sungmin already, I’m not doing anything wrong”
“Oh you’re not, are you?” he spat “You think it’d be that easy?! You know Sungmin loves you so much you idiot!” he didn’t even care that the other occupants of the other rooms could come out. “And yet you do this?!”
“That’s not my fucking problem anymore” Kyuhyun replied coolly, “he accepted the break-up already” that was when Hyukjae snapped, before he could stopped himself he propelled himself on top of Kyuhyun beating him senseless. The kid has no FUCKING idea.
“Stop it! Stop it!” Kyuhyun yelled, trying to fend him off, Siwon had gone to call Leeteuk who came just in time before Hyukjae could break Kyuhyun’s nose.
“Stop it you two! Stop it now! What the hell is going on here?!” Leeteuk asks, looking from one to another, they both looked horrible now, Kyuhyun looked like a mess, something Hyukjae was proud of. “Kyuhyun?” the oldest turned to the maknae who was checking his jaw, and unfortunately (for Hyukjae) it was still intact.
“He attacked me, I wasn’t doing anything” Kyuhyun retorted. Hyukjae had to resist hurting him again.
Hyukjae glared at him “Kyuhyun’s a bastard. He deserved everything” he replied coldly.
Jungsu sighed and shook his head “That’s enough. We will talk about this tomorrow, you all should rest now, and I mean it” he said in that ‘Leader’ tone no one dared disobey.
“Fine, we were just going to do that anyway” Kyuhyun said, while Siwon was just quiet beside him.
“Fine, but know this Cho Kyuhyun. You are NOT allowed near Sungmin, not anymore, bastard” Hyukjae said before turning around and headed back to his room, leaving behind an angry Kyuhyun, a wary Siwon and confused Leeteuk.
That night, Hyukjae stared into Sungmin’s face long into the night, Sungmin probably won’t like what he did earlier but he couldn’t stop himself, it was time that he stood up for Sungmin, and he vowed to do just that. “I’ll always be here for you Min…always”
By morning the next day Hyukjae didn’t want to kill Kyuhyun anymore, just as long as he didn’t think about it, but he stood by his words that the maknae was not allowed to be around Sungmin anymore, the rest of the other members found out about the two breaking up but chose not to say anything, something Hyukjae was grateful for as he went back to their room to see if Sungmin was already awake.
When he arrived Sungmin was up, staring out the window looking lost in his thoughts. Hyukjae sighed, knowing what he could e thinking about “Hey, how you feeling?” he asked.
Sungmin turned to him, wincing slightly “Like my head is going to split in two” he replied with a small smile. “I really let myself go last night huh?” he chuckled, yet looked ashamed that he couldn’t even meet Hyukjae’s stares.
“You know what I mean Sungmin” he says, knowing Sungmin was intently trying to change the topic, he was trying to mask his emotions again, over the years Sungmin has turned into a master at this field but Lee Hyukjae wasn’t his best friend since predebut for nothing. He could see very well through him.
Sungmin visibly tensed, but he struggled to keep his composure “I…I can’t do anything about it, even if I want to….” He says in a hushed voice, “I…I just want him to be happy…”
“That’s bullshit” Hyukjae suddenly says, feeling angry again “What about you, then? What about your happiness?” it hurt him also because of the fact that he knew Sungmin’s happiness lies with a fucking bastard that is Kyuhyun.
The orange haired man fell quiet. This almost felt like the time Kyuhyun was cheating with Zhou Mi, but back then the maknae didn’t break up with him, although it hurt to see him cheat in plain sight, the maknae didn’t threw him aside and he was thankful for that. He wanted to believe Kyuhyun loved him, Hyukjae was mad back then too, but Sungmin begged him not to do anything rash, so he didn’t.
Sungmin was tired, tired of always being the one cheated on. He was tired of the one being set aside. Sure he loved Kyuhyun but deep inside his heart he knew Kyuhyun never really loved him back. He just stayed out of pity, or probably because he knew Sungmin would do anything for him and he was sick of it “I’m tired Hyukjae…”
“M-Min?”
“I’m tired of being like this. If-if Kyuhyun doesn’t want me then that’s that. I should learn to forget him” there. He said it. Hyukjae was probably not going to believe him but…
“I’m proud of you Min!” Hyukjae says, making him stare as the blonde gave him a wide gummy smile “That’s the attitude! If that bastard doesn’t want you then that’s his loss, not yours. There are a lot more people out there deserving of you” some of them here too.
Sungmin smiled shyly “Y-You think so?”
He pinched Sungmin’s nose playfully “I know so Min, I know so”
“You’re always besides me Hyukkie, thank you”
Hyukjae just blushes, scratching his cheeks “Ya, of course, we’re best friends after all, it’s my duty” and I want you to be happy too.
Sungmin chuckles “I love you Hyukkie”
“I love you too” more than you think I do “Now come on, we have to go get ready, our flight would leave in 2 hours”
Sungmin nodded, making a vow to do just as he said he will. It seemed hard after all he had been in love with Kyuhyun for years now, but it was time for him to realize he was just making it hard for himself, so he was going to forget Kyuhyun no matter how hard it takes.
Hyukjae smiles to himself, this is definitely going to be he start of something new, who knows? He might even be able to tell Sungmin how he felt, 6 years of waiting is long enough time to wait, maybe now was his time.
